The path to a wine with a light footprint begins where everything starts — in the soil. At Quinta Miradouro dos Dízimos, we practice regenerative viticulture, which respects not only natural cycles, but also strengthens them.
We manage our vineyards using techniques that avoid excessive chemical use, preserve local biodiversity and boost the natural fertility of the soil. All with a simple and clear goal: to produce grapes in a healthy ecosystem. For instance, did you know that planting cover crops between vineyard rows help prevent erosion, improve water retention and increase soil microbial life?
Taking care of the land is the first step to protect the flavour and the legacy we want to pass on.
In wine production, every decision matter and has a consequence. At Quinta Miradouro dos Dízimos, our priorities include sourcing materials locally, using recyclable and recycled materials and minimizing waste at all stages of wine production.
We follow a circular and regenerative model, where everything that can be reused, effectively, is. For example, grape waste is composted or integrated into other stages of our agricultural production.
When the time to bottle our wines arrives, we choose lighter and more sustainable solutions: lightweight glass bottles, certified paper labels and packaging that reduces the impact on transport and the final carbon footprint.
Do all the wines we drink have this level of care? Not always. But it is also up to you, as a consumer, to start asking these questions.
